The fifth and sixth graders designed their very own dream rooms. The students were introduced to this tricky thing called one point perspective and gave their best effort when trying to use it in their rooms! They filled up the space in the rooms-every wall and every corner-with anything they could ever want in their dream room. They also worked hard to color in neatly with colored pencils. You can definitely tell how hard they worked on these, they look great!
For our first project in the middle school we did self-portraits in all four grades! The fifth graders did their projects based off of a Pop-Artist named Roy Lichtenstein, which looks like a comic book. They made their faces have the Ben-Day dots just like Lichtenstein's. The sixth graders modeled their work off of Andy Warhal's grid portraits.
The 7th and 8th graders got to pick between modeling their self-portraits off of Frida Kahlo or Grandma Layton, two female artists who both let their personalities show through their artwork. Their goal was to tell a little bit about themselves and their interests through their work. Parents! Make sure to stop by the 5th grade hallway to check out the rest of the self-portraits! I am so proud of all of their hard work! Here are a few photos of our awesome classroom at the middle school! We have so many windows and lots of storage. It is a fun room and a wonderful place for students to learn!
